Kris Murphy was born and raised in the U.S. state of Vermont. In his free time he enjoys hiking, mountain biking, surfing and practicing jujitsu and general aviation. He has traveled extensively through Latin America and now lives in Cuzco, Peru. Kris is the Cuzco office manager. You might meet him if he picks you up at the airport upon arrival into Cuzco, or if you’re a travel agent, working with you to sell our great tours!
Cait is from Exeter, in the southwest of England. She has spent two years working in France and last year she graduated from the University of Sheffield, where she studied French, Spanish and linguistics. After graduating she decided to set sail again and move to Peru, where she volunteered for 3 months teaching English in a secondary school in Cusco. After travelling around Peru and Bolivia she moved back to Cusco, and has been working with Southern Crossings ever since. Her favourite hobbies include walking and biking in the countryside, learning to dance salsa, taking photographs, and learning more about the fascinating Peruvian culture.
Margo was born in Canada and has lived many years in Peru where she worked as an English teacher in Piura, northern Peru and Cuzco before starting a career in the tourism industry with Southern Crossings. She has a degree in Travel and Tourism and tries to see as much of the world as possible in her free time. She has visited over 25 countries and has travelled extensively throughout Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. She is always happy to give you advice and to share the best things about these countries to make your vacation one to remember.
Andreas was born in Hemel Hempstead, just outside London in the UK. After graduating from Queen Mary University in London in English literature he travelled around the world, visiting several places in Asia and Latin America. He also lived in Spain for a while; where he learnt Spanish while teaching English. In his spare time he enjoys writing, keeping fit, exploring new places and learning new languages. Andreas is fluent in Greek as well as Spanish and English. He now lives in Peru and is always happy to help design an itinerary to create your perfect vacation!
Rich Anchante was born in Lima, Peru. He spent eight years living in the US state of Virginia, speaks excellent English and is a BIG fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. Rich now lives in Cuzco, Peru and will most likely be the person picking you up from the airport upon arrival. In his spare time, Rich enjoys jujitsu, surfing and watching his Eagles play.
Leslie is from Lima, Peru. She has a bachelor’s degree in Tourism from San Martin de Porres University. She is always happy to assist the sales team with every detail planning your trip to Peru. She considers herself passionate about tourism, she loves her country, its culture and she is proud to show it to the world. Her vocation and experience allow her to give the best tips to organize your perfect trip.
Alcira studied tourism in the Instituto Supeno Tecnologico de Tupac Amaru. She did her internship at the Museo Historico Regional and has guided tours throughout Cuzco including Inca Trail treks. Whether it’s a city tour of Cuzco or hiking in the Andes mountains Alcira is one of our most experienced guides.
Nilo Gamarra grew up in the small village of Pocourhuay, outside of the city of Cuzco. His first language was Quechua, and he didn’t begin learning Spanish until he came to school in Cuzco. Of course now he is fluent in both languages, as well as English. At an early age, Nilo decided he wanted to be a guide, and he got his guide license soon after completing high school. He now guides all over southern Peru as well as on trekking route, and really loves showing visitors all of his country’s splendor and beauty.
Fidel was born and raised in Cusco and has been working in tourism for 14 years. He graduated with a degree in tourism in 2008, after this accomplishment he was able to follow his passion to travel and teach people about his country. He is a specialist in the culture and history of Peru, and its many attractions. He enjoys his work and being able to travel around his beautiful country.
Sandra was born in Rodriguez de Mendoza, Amazonas Peru. She studied to be a secretary and speaks English and Italian. Both languages have proven very helpful in her job as a tour conductor and transfer specialist. Sandra has always had an interest in tourism and worked as a Sales and Administration Manager for 10 years. Like all of us here at Southern Crossings Sandra has great pride in the beauty and gastronomy of her country.
When you arrive into Lima, Peru, it might be Enrique’s face that greets you. Look for the big smile! Enrique is our “always there, always dependable” driver and transfer guy in Lima. As our operations manager has put it, “I started sleeping at night when we started working with Enrique.” And he’s a wealth of information about Lima if you’d like to try some kind of special cuisine or check out somewhere off the beaten path.
Liset was born and raised in Aguas Calientes, the town just below Machu Picchu. She comes from a small family and moved to Cuzco at the age of eighteen to fulfil her dream of becoming a tour guide. She studied English and tourism in Cuzco, and put her English to the test while working in a local hotel. Liset then returned to her home to work as a guide at Machu Picchu, her true passion in life. As a local, she has vast knowledge of the Machu Picchu sanctuary and is always excited to impart her knowledge of the Incan archeological site to our clients.
