Born
in 1967 and brought up in Bristol, England, John Prosser decided to take
a "career break" in 1991 and travel. It was a break for a year
that turned into seventeen! He went first to Nepal, where he worked as a
mountain bike guide and wrote a chapter for Lonely Planet's Nepal. While
there, John managed a company called Himalayan Mountain Bikes in Katmandu and
also organized the first of many successful whitewater rafting trips which
continue to this day. Moving to Hong Kong to promote trips to Nepal and
India, he began a cycling career at the same time which took him to two World
Mountain Bike Championships and countless stage races representing Hong Kong.
John spent more than seven years in Hong Kong working, cycling and organizing
and leading adventure trips to Nepal and the Indian subcontinent. John's
first taste of Latin America came in 1998, when he left Hong Kong and spent the
best part of a year working for Raleigh International in southern Chile. When
the work was over, John took off to explore the continent, and hasn't stopped
since...
